What’s your favourite part of the lifestyle of an Author?

I’m brand new to this lifestyle but I’ve always enjoyed telling stories.

What made you start writing?

I’ve always been creative. When I was a young boy, I remember writing Spider-Man short stories for my grandma to read. Those stories were probably so bad but I wish I still had them! I enjoy writing and exploring the depths of my imagination and to just tell stories and entertain.

Is there an Author that you consider your inspiration?

One of my favorite authors growing up was Peter David. I always looked forward to every Star Trek novel or comic that he would pen. His sense of humor was always spot-on for me and the way he always tied in character and Big Picture stories was fascinating to me. I’ve always aspired to tell stories the way he does.

What’s your number one tip for an aspiring Author?

I would tell an aspiring Author to not hold back and to explore the depths of their imagination, to not be afraid to revise and edit and to not be afraid to accept a little criticism along the way.

What type of book do you like to read and does this differ from the genre that you prefer to write?

I love reading Science Fiction and Mystery novels. I think I’m better at writing Sci-Fi than I would be at writing mysteries.

Which one of your characters would you most like to spend time with?

It’s tough to say who I’d like to spend time with the most, but I’d probably have to go with the character of Twitch. I think he would be entertaining to be around.

Which book do you consider a must-read?

The Lord of the Rings. The richness of the world and the epic scope is breathtaking to me.

What’s been the hardest edit that you’ve had to make? Why did you want to keep the material in?

The hardest edit I made was cutting out a scene where Alex rescues a young boy from a fire. In earlier drafts, Alex was afraid of fire and had to confront that fear. Confronting fear and having courage is a big theme in my book but as I was going through different drafts and my focus shifted towards more of a David and Goliath-type conflict, the fear of fire no longer had a place. But it was tough to cut.

If you could live in a book, which one would it be?

I would live in the Star Trek universe if I could. Living aboard a starship and traveling around the galaxy would be exhilarating for me.

If you could pick an Author to write your biography, who would it be?

I’d want it to be Peter David. I’m sure he’d find plenty of humor in my life.

Is there any conflict between what you want to write and what you think your readers will like?

Honestly, I really just write for myself, my wife and children. I hope that others do enjoy my books, but the people I want to entertain the most are my wife and boys.

What effect can a review have on you, if you read them at all? Both the good and the bad.

I haven’t been reviewed yet but that’ll be an interesting day. Good critique would be very re-affirming in that I’ve written my book well and that I’ve been able to entertain someone. As for the bad, I’m sure it’ll sting at first, but I know that it’s important to keep an open-mind and to always strive to be better. Constructive criticism is valuable and I will always try to take it to heart.

Can you sum up your life story in ten words or less?

Lots of hard work and fun.

What’s exciting you about your next project?

I’m excited to expand upon the “Legend of the Last Star Knight” universe, to enrich it and flesh it out more. But most importantly, I’m looking forward to further exploring the characters I’ve created and to see how they grow.

And finally, you have one quote to be remembered by, what is it?

I’ve never been good at coming up with quotes, but I hope my work and my life speak for themselves.

You can find “Legend of the Last Star Knight: The Crown of Kings” and it’s sequel on Amazon.
