“It happened again I tell you! It really did! I was abducted by the giant aliens, the same ones as last time!”
Not this again….
“There I was, minding my own business, just grabbing a bite when I felt a searing pain. I was frozen in terror, paralyzed! And just like before, I was drawn up into the sky! I was so scared I could barely breath!”
“Giant aliens…rigghht…uh, Dave….”
“They laid me down on this hard surface and I could barely move. I was poked and probed and measured. It felt like I was a trophy or something, instead of a thinking, living being! Why would they treat someone like that? Why?”
Fred and Joe shared a sad, knowing look.
“Just when I felt I was about to die, the giant aliens returned me home!”
How many times do we have to go through this? The thought plainly written on their faces.
“I know you guys don’t believe me, but it really happened! Those giant aliens are absolutely hideous! They have huge eyes and these freaky long limbs. And there is all this stuff sticking out the sides and top of their heads. You have never seen anything so scary!”
“Dave,” Joe said slowly, “we explained this. Those aliens….”
“And you guys don’t know what you are talking about! You are wrong, I tell you! Wrong!” Dave interrupted, frantically motioning towards the sky. “Those beings are evil incarnate. We all are in tremendous danger. They are going to abduct us all and then you will believe me!”
“Somewhere, somebody will listen to me!”
Dave flashed them an angry glare before rushing off in a huff. The pair could hear him shouting to anyone that would listen about the giant aliens and ‘the end of the world is near’ until he faded from sight.
“Do you think he’s ever going to stop falling for the bait on those fishhooks?” Joe wondered aloud finally.
“Yeah,” Fred replied thoughtfully, as they watched Dave swim away. “sooner or later he will grab one last bite–after he gains a little weight…”.
