Featured Friday! Nathan Ogloff

I have always had a fascination with creating stories that are rich, intricate,
and create a lasting impression on the reader. Previous writing credentials include
two unpublished short stories. Other than those, this will be my debut novel.

When I’m not writing, I am usually adding songs to my ever-expanding Spotify heavy metal playlist while modeling spaceships in LEGO Studio. Currently, I live in New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada.

What’s your favourite part of the lifestyle of an Author?

I don’t know how many jobs you can do in your boxers

What made you start writing?

I’ve always had a fascination with creating rich, intricate worlds people can get lost in. I chose literature because of it’s purity.

Is there an Author that you consider your inspiration?

Larry Niven. Some of the aliens that guy has come up with are insane!

What’s your number one tip for an aspiring Author?

This industry and art in general is subjective. If people are raving about a book, but for some reason you can’t get into it, it’s not that you’re a ludite or aesthetically dumb, or just can’t appreciate “quality” storytelling. It’s simply not your thing.

What type of book do you like to read and does this differ from the genre that you prefer to write?

No. I write and read sci-fi.

Which one of your characters would you most like to spend time with?

Hastrum Kiruf. A man gifted in understanding people and speaks with a smooth cadence.

Which book do you consider a must-read?

Lord of the Rings!

What’s been the hardest edit that you’ve had to make? Why did you want to keep the material in?

I had an intro I really liked but had to cut it as it gave away too much too early.

If you could live in a book, which one would it be?

Lord of the Rings!

If you could pick an Author to write your biography, who would it be?

It would be later in my life. So someone who is not born yet, but someone filled with ambition that I could inspire as I pass the torch along.

Is there any conflict between what you want to write and what you think your readers will like?

Absolutely not.

What effect can a review have on you, if you read them at all? Both the good and the bad.

Make me feel on cloud 9. The more positive reviews I have, the more it makes me feel like I’m doing the right thing. Don’t want bad reviews, but I’ve already accepted it will happen.

Can you sum up your life story in ten words or less?

Heh heh! No.

What’s exciting you about your next project?

It’s unlike anything people have seen. It’s a twist on a beloved genre combined with a deep analysis of social behavior.

And finally, you have one quote to be remembered by, what is it?

I am a trigger warning
